Cameras followed fifth grade I CAN SCHOOLS scholars on their 10 week journey to learn ballroom dances like the rumba and foxtrot. The dancing skills, social maturity, and self-esteem our scholars gained by the end of the program serve as powerful proof that the arts have a vital place in education. Claudia Grindraw's 5th grade class was featured in an Ohio.com video tribute honoring the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. The video, "MLK: In Our Own Voices," featured important representatives of the Akron community (LeBron James, Akron Mayor Plusquellic) reciting the last portion of the speech.
