The mission of I CAN SCHOOLS is to prepare students for a college preparatory high school that will ensure success and graduation from a four-year college.
Our vision is to create a culture of high expectations for behavior and academics through rigorous, research-based curricula and a focus on achievement. It is our goal that I CAN SCHOOLS scholars will attend a college preparatory high school and ultimately gain acceptance to and graduate from a four year college. It is our expectation that 100% of ICS graduates will positively affect change in their local communities while making a contribution to our global society.
I CAN Pillars
At the core of our goals and expectations will be the character pillars of I CAN SCHOOLS: Respect, Responsibility and Relentlessness. We expect our students to respect one another, the adults in the building, take responsibility for their shortcomings and successes and to be relentless in all of their pursuits, no matter how small. The staff and administration of I CAN SCHOOLS will work with students and the broader community to construct engaging, authentic, and relevant learning experiences that are accessible to students with varied learning styles. I CAN SCHOOLS will also help students forge adult and community connections, both to bring the world into the school and to get students out of the school and into the “real world.”
