I CAN SCHOOLS is a charter school management organization. The mission of I CAN SCHOOLS is to prepare students for a college preparatory high school that ensures acceptance and graduation from a four year college and/or university. I CAN SCHOOLS is dedicated to providing all students with an education that supersedes standards of excellence. I CAN SCHOOLS currently has four high performing, Kindergarten through Eighth grade schools in Cleveland, Ohio: Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School, Cleveland College Preparatory School, University of Cleveland Preparatory School and Lake Erie Preparatory School. I CAN SCHOOLS will be adding more schools to its network yearly extending throughout the State of Ohio. I CAN SCHOOLS seeks an experienced professional to join its management team as a grant writer

Job Summary

The Network Grant Writer is responsible for overseeing multiple tasks to aid in the operations of the Network in joint collaborations with the management team. Responsibilities include utilizing Microsoft Office programs; develop grant proposals for federal, local and corporate funding; identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as coordinate the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to third party entities. The Network Grant Writer is responsible for technical writing such as press releases, updating web content, and editing social media content. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of program activities that are funded by third party public and private sources. Position reports to the founders of I CAN SCHOOLS

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree at minimum, master’s degree preferred with a minimum of three years related work experience (non- profit experience a plus) with a proven successful track record in grant writing and program development. Candidate must exhibit excellent written and verbal communications skills, be proficient in researching , interpreting and analyzing diverse data and possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals.

Status: Full-time, salaried
Anticipated Employment Period: immediate
Anticipated Salary: commensurate on experience

Employment is conditional upon the completion of criminal/background check(s) as required by the State of Ohio and by I CAN SCHOOLS.

Performance Expectations

  • Assists leaders to find grants to fund programmatic functions of the schools
  • Works with management team to write all grants and proposals
  • Edits all website content regularly
  • Creates and edits social media content in conjunction with school leaders and teachers
  • Prepares proposals and grant applications for third parties
  • Works with Chief Financial Officer to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs
  • Researches, Identifies, develops, and responds to public and private grant opportunities in the area of education
  • Complies with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors
  • To function as a member of the network by accepting special and committee assignments as requested by executive management
  • Supports executive management team and the I CAN SCHOOLS Board of Directors
  • Consistently meets deadlines for assigned tasks and projects while completing quality work
  • Maintains punctuality in arrival to work on a daily basis
  • Completes tasks and assignments with an in depth understanding of the intention of the task at hand
  • Demonstrates an initiative to identify areas of need within funding and grant writing
  • Demonstrates a “do whatever it takes” mentality and approach to the job including, but not limited to, dedicating time above and beyond to ensure tasks are completed to support the overall successful function of the network
  • Assists with other fundraising projects as requested by management team

Compensation packages are considered exceptionally competitive and commensurate with experience. I CAN SCHOOLS offer a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision. Employees participate in the Ohio SERS (state retirement system).
